I want cis lesbians to work on making a stronger support system for trans lesbians. Saying “no terfs” just ain’t enough, y’all.

Like, help a trans lesbian get a job. Invite her out to shit. Talk to her. Bring her around other lesbians and don’t make a big show of correcting someone who misgenders her. Offer a ride home at the end of the night so she doesn’t have to walk or bus alone. If you see a trans girl on the bus, sit next to her so some random, terrible dude doesn’t. Don’t invite people to a gathering that’d make her feel unsafe. Know your friends & girlfriend better. Talk to’em about the how and why of supporting trans lesbians. If they’re not on board, get them on board, and if that doesn’t work, it’s time to question the company you keep.

Make it so she feels that OF COURSE she belongs. That OF COURSE she’s supported.

Like idk, everything I just listed is stuff that… you just do for a friend. Y’all it ain’t that hard to treat a trans woman like, ya know, a friend.

Making fun of animal sacrifice or saying nasty things about animal sacrifice in the context of Africana traditions and ATRs is racist.

Sure, everyone has the right to be grossed out by it, disagree with the concept of it, not want to do it, not want to talk about or see it. But when talking to someone who practices these religions, it would be respectful to convey these things either very politely or not at all.

It’s okay not to share certain reactions or opinions to people in order to respect their practices. This is common courtesy and in some cases necessary for having enough respect to avoid being racist about traditions that you don’t do and don’t have to do but are an ancient part of indigenous and diasporic religions.

(Just thinking about this because in Dark Tourist the white journalist spends a lot of time describing animal sacrifice with negative words and showing how afraid and grossed out he is about it.

There was a way he could’ve expressed his discomfort AND shown respect for it that wouldn’t be racist. He didn’t do that at all lol. He was just racist.)

I know this isn’t Bojack related, but recently instead of turning men down by saying “no, thank you”, I experimented with saying “I’m engaged” and flashing a ring instead.
Needless to say, I am not engaged. It still worked better than just saying “no”, but then came questions like “so where is your fiancé?” and “he let you go out by yourself looking like that?” or just remaining persistent in asking for my number.
So I went into my closet, and pulled out a fiancé.
Now when I turn men down and they need further proof, they can know that I would rather lug around a 5 foot tall plastic skeleton to Steak n Shake and fake a proposal than give them my number.

The majority being discriminated against are called Uyghurs. Khazaks, Uzbeks, and Tajiks are also being ostracized. They are Turkic minorities. They are people. And the world is unaware.

There is an estimated one million people in these so called “re-education camps”. Uyghur people are being forced to assimilate into Chinese culture through marriage. Uyghur children are forced to learn Mandarin and Uyghurqi, the language, is prohibited to be taught in schools. There is a lot of Uyghur unemployment due to ethnic discrimination. Uyghur people are routinely, unjustly imprisoned, and many die. An elderly Uyghur poet was imprisoned. An Uyghur couple my family knows was beaten, and the wife suffered a miscarriage. These are just a few examples of discrimination.

Rebiya Kadeer is fighting for our voices to be heard. She is one of many who was unjustly imprisoned, due to her political activism. She was put on death row and was told to keep quiet or her family would be killed. More than 30 of her relatives have been unjustly detained in the concentration camps. Read her book (Dragon Fighter).

My culture is forcefully being erased. My people are dying. Who is listening? Who can help us?

This is ethnic cleansing.

This is the coming of the second Holocaust. I know that that word cannot be used lightly, which is why I am using it. I hope you all understand the severity of the situation.

Please spread the word. Be aware of this. Tell your friends, your family, anyone who will listen.

Uyghurs can’t reach out for help, but you can on their behalf.

Please.

You guys need to start distancing yourself from known racist fans, especially those that blatantly support Tolkien purist and who’re Tolkien purist themselves. I’ve been looking through notes of certain post (the post being arda-marred8 bs about not wanting black people in Tolkien’s world), and I’m just incredibly disgusted by the people in this fandom who are supporting people who advocate for the removal of people of color in Tolkien’s works?

And some of these people are well known writers and fans, the people half of the fandom support because of their content. But please stop supporting them, stop endorsing racist fans and validating them.

And I know this is harsh, but when you’ve got pretty well known fans supporting shit that says poc don’t belong in Tolkien, then it is what it is.

You’re always asking what you can do to make the fandom a safer place, and I don’t mean that as a gotcha or to be mean, but literally, this is something you can do.
